Worcester is supporting the transformation of Worcester’s central city area into a modern 21st Century workplace of creative industries. 

The project board is made up of representatives from Worcester City CouncilThe University of WorcesterSevern ArtsThe Arch Co and Worcestershire County Council

The programme known as The Arches Worcester Project is built around four key elements:

  • Ambitious festivals programme through The Arches Worcester Festivals, showcasing national and international creative talent and supporting local emerging work. Placing culture & creativity at the heart of Worcester for example Light NightThe Rising, Same But Different and Atmosphere, with more to come, including The Rising (October 2022) and Light Night 2023 (February 2023)
  • Creative workspace by the development of dynamic work and creative spaces by transforming eight railway arches between Foregate Street Station and the riverside known as the Arches-Worcester 
  • Skills and learning programme by working with four community festivals to ensure new skills, new knowledge, expanded artistic ambition, increased audience reach and to embed community festivals within Worcester’s event infrastructure
  • Business Development by working with Advantage Creative to retain graduates, young people and start up businesses in Worcester and to embed a volunteer training programme
