Following a thorough commissioning process during which a shortlist of five artists were supported to develop their initial proposals, Emily Peasgood has been selected by the Land Trust and a jury panel to create a new art work for the West Wing battery at Fort Burgoyne.
Emily, a BASCA award-winning composer, sound artist and visual artist, will create a sound installation and musical composition that immerses visitors in the history of the West Wing Battery. The art work will look towards the future of the Fort and its West Wing Battery as a community space, inviting visitors to rest, contemplate and play. Emily will be working with Al Harle, Darius Wilson and Theresa Mooch to realise her project.

Emily and her team visited the site prior to commencing her development work, along with the other shortlisted artists, and returned in December 2019 for a further site inspection. Full installation of the new art work is planned for the opening of the Battery in the summer of 2020.
